Greyhound Bus Stations

(hit "refresh" to get the most recent version of this page)

This section focuses mainly on Streamline Moderne Greyhound stations. Most of these stations were designed from 1937 until the early 1940s by William ("W.S.") Arrasmith. He designed over 50 stations but only about a half dozen still exist today.

The Arrasmith book describes these buildings as "terminals" and I have been told the correct terminology is "depots". However, I stubbornly refer to them as "stations". For those of you that care about such things, I hope you will forgive me.

Some non-Greyhound stations have crept into this section. Many Continental Trailways and Union Bus stations were later used by Greyhound and have interesting designs as well. For more about all of these bus stations and their histories, see the Links section. If you know of other stations not described here (photos would be great, too!), I would really appreciate hearing about them. Enjoy!
