former Greyhound Station Washington, DC

The Washington, DC station was built from 1939-1940 by Wischmeyer, Arrasmith & Elswick in the Streamline Moderne style. It was proclaimed the "Grand Central Station of the bus world". The building's trapezoidal shape was faced with Indiana limestone. In 1976, the building was hideously encased and, in 1987, it closed. It was restored in 1991 as the 1100 New York Avenue office building. The ticket counter is now used as an information booth. There is a display with photos and information about the building.
