Giant Chicken
Seaside Heights, NJ
The Bridgeton Chicken stands in front of Fisher's Food Center. He has been stolen a number of times. A giant steer is also on the roof.

The Abingdon Chicken stands on top of the sign at Dutt & Wagner of Virginia, an egg producer. I have not seen a giant chicken statue with grass before.

The Seaside Heights Chicken is on the Boardwalk along with several other statues.

Giant Chicken
Lebanon, PA
The Merrill Chicken is in front of Ed & Sharon's Restaurant. He is nicknamed "Eddie" after the owner. [photo/info thanks Bill Dinges]

The Delano Chicken is about 13' tall and located at a BP gas station. It was installed here in 1988. The chicken was designed by FAST to hold a child's swing under each arm. For more, see this website.

The Lebanon Chicken is on the roof of Mark Hershey Farms, an animal feed manufacturer. The chicken looks similar to the others shown at the left but with a closed beak and tail. I have not seen another one like this.

Giant Chicken
Byron Center, MI
Giant Chicken
Prudenville, MI
Giant Chicken
St. Louis, MI
Giant Chicken
Honor, MI
Giant Chicken
Greenbush, MI
Giant Chicken
Clawson, MI
These five chickens appear to have been made from the same mold which leads me to wonder if there was a former broasted chicken restaurant chain that featured these guys. I have not seen this style outside of MI.

The Byron Center Chicken is installed in front of Jake's Bar & Grill at the Byron Center Hotel. [photo thanks Clayton Lubbers]

The Prudenville Chicken stands in front of the Lake Break restaurant.

The St. Louis Chicken is in front of The Original Tony's Giant Steak Sandwich which opened in 1946. He was repainted around 2007.

The Honor Chicken stands in front of the Cherry Bowl Drive-in.

The Greenbush Chicken is adorned with Christmas tree lights. He stands in front of the Red Rooster Restaurant. [photo thanks Mark Comstock]

The Clawson Chicken is on the roof of Faym-Us Chicken. They opened in 1959 and I assume the chicken is from around the same time.

Three Chefs [gone]
Mason, MI
Mister Chicken
Dearborn Heights, MI
Gene's Restaurant
Schuyler, NE
Dari-y Drive-Inn
Goldfield, IA
Redwood
Coast Cellular
Eureka, CA
The Three Chefs featured a "Broaster Chicken" on its roof while the Mister Chicken features one atop their sign. This statue must have been used by a chain affiliated with Broaster Foods. I don't know whether this style or the other top-hatted rooster statues were developed first. The Three Chefs restaurant has been demolished and replaced with a Wendy's. There whereabouts of the rooster is unknown. [Three Chefs photo thanks Mark Comstock]

Gene's Restaurant has another broaster chicken statue of this type on its roof.

The Dari-y Drive-Inn broaster chicken is protected behind fencing. He has been nicknamed Ronnie Rooster.

The Redwood Coast Cellular broaster chicken is dressed up like Uncle Sam. This statue is slightly different from the others shown here and was probably built later.

Giant Rooster
Pigeon Forge, TN
Giant Rooster
East Peoria, IL
Giant Rooster
Eau Claire, WI
The Atlanta Rooster stands in front of the Tropical Flavor Restaurant.

The Spencer Rooster is installed at the Owen County Fairgrounds.

The Pigeon Forge Rooster stands outside the Tennessee Oak Furniture store. They call him the "Big C" for Big Chicken. In the mid-1970s, the chicken/rooster stood in front of the Three Bears Gift Shop. The City of Pigeon Forge sued for illegal signage but the the store won (the judge ruling the rooster was not a sign). He was put in storage around 1988 and moved to this site in 2004.

The East Peoria Rooster stands in front of Carl's Bakery & Restaurant. He appears to have been recently restored. For more, see this website.

The Eau Claire Rooster is installed on the roof of Ron's Family Restaurant.

Giant Rooster
Rooster Run, KY
Giant Rooster
Spencer, IN
Giant Rooster
Birnamwood, WI
Giant Rooster
Osseo, WI
The Rooster Run Rooster stands in front of the Rooster Run General Store. He sports a bib that says "Hello, my name is Ozzy Frank".

The Birnamwood Rooster stands on top of a sign for Chet & Emil's Restaurant. Naturally, they serve broasted chicken.

The Osseo Rooster is in front of Moe's Diner where there is also a giant steer on top of their sign.

Ron's Roost
Cincinnati, OH
Barrel Drive-in
Clear Lake, IA
Chanticleer Cottage
Noblesville, IN
The rooster at Ron's Roost restaurant is installed on the roof.

The Barrel Drive-in rooster was once installed on a trailer and used in local parades. This drive-in opened in 1958 but I don't know how long the rooster has been here.

The Chanticleer Cottage antique store rooster was probably top-hatted at one time. "Aunt Bee's Restaurant" was here before but I don't know if they were the original occupants or how long the rooster has been here. As of 2006, the rooster and building had been freshly painted white and a new business was moving in. The rooster had been quite colorful before. For more, see this website.

Rooster and Turkey
Springdale, AR
The Rooster and Turkey stand at opposite ends of the parking lot of 4-State Poultry Supply.

Turkey
Pipe, WI
The Pipe Turkey is mounted on a trailer in front of a farm building.

World's Largest Turkey
Frazee, MN
Giant Turkey
Frazee, MN
The World's Largest Turkey is 22' tall. The original "Big Tom" was 16' tall and constructed in 1986. It was built by Shell Scott using metal, cement, fiberglass, cardboard and insulation. He was originally a bronze color but later painted white. This statue required frequent repairs and the town decided to construct another one. In 1998, while removing the original turkey with a cutting torch, it caught fire and was completely destroyed. This replacement was produced by DWO Fiberglass Co. and installed in 1998. He is made of fiberglass, reinforced with steel, and bronze in color. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [photos thanks Mark Comstock]

The white Giant Turkey is located downtown. He was installed in 1998, before the giant replacement arrived. For more, see this website. [photo thanks Mark Comstock]

Wild Turkey
Boscobel, WI
This Wild Turkey is installed on a trailer which is moved around town for promotions at different businesses. Boscobel is the Wild Turking Hunting Capital of Wisconsin.

Giant Chickens
Winlock, WA
Giant Chicken
Tifton, GA
Giant Chicken
Marysville, OH
These detailed Winlock Chickens are scattered around this small town. I believe they were installed in 2007. Winlock was once considered the Egg Capital of the World and is also home to a Giant Egg statue. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

This Tifton Chicken stands in front of the Wishbone Fried Chicken restaurant.

This Marysville Chicken is installed in front of Crazy Scotty's Building Supplies.

Henny Penny Carry Out
McHenry, IL
Giant Chicken
Austin, TX
Giant Chicken
Bothell, WA
The Henny Penny Carry Out restaurant features this giant chicken on the roof.

The Austin Chicken was produced by Faith Schexnayder of Flat Fork Studios. The chicken is made of foam and covered with fiberglass. The sculpture has been restored twice. Faith created "Ethel", a mother hen, around 1998. She wanted the chicken to have a "don't mess with my chicks" look for the yard in which her young daughter plays. For more, see this website. [photo thanks Faith Schexnayder]

The Bothell Chicken is installed in front of the Country Village Shopping Center. She is about 15' tall and stands over a giant egg. She was built by Rod Loveless in 2005 from styrofoam blocks. The blocks had been packing materials from furniture and such when the business opened. Loveless glued them together, carved them into the chicken shape, and covered the sculpture with fiberglass. For more, see this website.

Giant Chicken
Ardmore, TN
The Ardmore Chicken stands in front of the Shady Lawn Truck Stop. He was restored around 2006. He holds a knife under one wing and once held a fork under the other. He appears to have been repainted recently. For more, see this website.

Chicken Coop
Tweed, ON
The Chicken Coop started out as Drain Poulty, an egg farm. It is now mainly a gift and clothing store. For more, see this website.

Giant Rooster
Brundidge, AL
The Brundidge Rooster was created from car bumpers by Larry Godwin. This sculpture stands in front of his ArtWurks gallery. His Giant Bull sculpture is located just a little north of here. For more, see his website.

Roscoe the Rooster
Takoma Park, MD
Bantam Chef
Walhalla, SC
Giant Chicken
Rossville, GA
Giant Chicken
Tampa, FL
Roscoe the Rooster is a life-sized tribute to a local pet rooster. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4.

This Bantam Chef restaurant features this rooster sculpture on the roof. It was designed and built by Robert and Bruce Gentry. Bantam Chef hamburger stands were part of a Southern chain.

The Rossville Chicken is on top of the canopy roof of Happy Motors (a former gas station). Unfortunately, the angle of the sun did not allow me to photograph him all that well. He is really bright yellow and probably about 10' tall.

The Tampa Chicken is not a statue at all but I can't resist including him. He waved to traffic but seemed to have no relationship to the business directly behind him (a Domino's Pizza, a Chinese restaurant, and a video store).
