| Bessie was an eye-catcher for the Oasis Restaurant, Motel and Cheese Shop. She was installed here in the 1960s. In 2006, the Oasis and Ramada Inn closed and were demolished. Bessie was saved through public outcry. When the photos in the second row above were taken in 2007, construction was going on all around her. In 2008, after a complete restoration, Bessie was returned to the site (bottom row of photos above). For more, see 1, 2, and 3. |

The Manitowoc Cow stands in front of the Cedar Crest Dairy factory. She might be nicknamed Betty. There is an ice cream parlor behind her. She is dressed up for various holidays including Sputnikfest. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. |

This Waukesha Cow, aka Gertrude, stands in front of the Golden Guernsey Dairy. You can only photograph her through the fence as the company is very tight about security.
The Middlebush Cow is 12' tall and appears to be another FAST clone (with horns removed). She was brown and white, then was painted black and white, and is now back to brown and white. In the 1960s, she was taken to parades and store openings to promote the Cream O'Land Dairy. When she was not on the road, she resided at the dairy's store which also had a 10' tall rotating milk bottle. When Cream O'Land's building was demolished in the late 1970s or early 80s, this cow moved to this dairy farm. She was subject to pranks and being knocked over so today she stands way back in the paddock with other live cows. Sometime between 2007 and 2009, this cow was repainted black and white. |

The Wilkes-Barre Giant Cow once stood in front of Gorman's Dairy. It seems to be at the same location today but the Dairy is now gone. The cow was multi-colored for several years but was repainted back to its original brown and white around 2002. This one looks remarkably similar to Bessie in Janesville, WI shown above. |

Buttercup was placed in front of the museum in 1995, Creampuff joined her in 1997. As of 2003, both are in superb condition. This area of northeastern Texas has over 165 dairy farms. | The Turkey Hill Cow is a mobile exhibit that has been traveling around PA and beyond since 1967. She was parked in front of Sweets for Sweeties when I saw her in 2006. In 2009, I spotted her at the Convention and Visitors Center in Ocean City. I think this was the same statue as the one I saw in PA. Turkey Hill now has three traveling cows but it sounds like the other two are red and white. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. |

Freddy Hill Farms opened as a dairy store in 1972. A working dairy farm, Freddy's now features homemade ice cream, 2 miniature golf courses, batting cages, a driving range, and this giant cow on the roof. For more, see their website. Moo-La, a life-sized fiberglass cow, was installed downtown on a pole in 1972. Signs below her make the claim that Erath County is the #1 Dairy County in TX with $223 million in milk sales annually. The Cohron's Cow has been here since at least 2000. There were two calf statues for awhile but they are now gone. Cohron's Manufactured Homes has been here since 1955. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
The INDOT Cow stands at the Indiana Department of Transportation Materials and Tests Division site. Just down the road is Kroger's Dairy so I assume the cow must have belonged to them at one point. The El Rancho Meat & Produce cow has been painted the colors of the Mexican flag. Their restaurant occupies the previous Avon Grove Diner, a Mountain View from 1952, which is now covered with wooden shingles. |

The Cities Barbecue Cow has been here since McConnell's Ice Cream occupied the building. She is repainted different colors from time to time. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3. This approximately life-sized Vergennes Cow stands in front of the Kennedy Bros. Factory Marketplace. I don't know its history. For more, see their website.
These life-sized Orlando Cows stand in front of a medical center. I thought that there might have been a dairy there previously but a local man swore the cows had only been there a few months. Those heavy chains do appear new although the cows could use some paint. The Salem Cows are located at Salem Feed & Grain, along with a giant rooster and a rearing horse. |

| There are about a dozen, life-sized cows at Halo Farm - supposedly the largest micro-dairy in the country. Their giant barn building sells dairy products and bakery items and houses their Seventh Heaven Ice Creamery. However, this place may be threatened if the huge Farmers Market next door is replaced with a Walmart. Halo supplies 45 flavors of ice cream to two Halo Pub locations in Princeton and Hamilton, NJ. For more, see this website. |
