The St. Charles Foxes are installed on the Main Street Bridge which spans the Fox River. There are two pairs of these statues. They were cast in France in 1927 and represent the Four Sons of Charlegmagne. For more, see this website. |

| These three fox statues were built for Fox Chevrolet. There is another location in Laurel, MD but it does not have a statue. The Fox Chevrolet dealership was established in Baltimore around 1935. The name came from the company's owner, Lou Fox. I believe these rooftop statues were created in the 1970s. The statue shown on the far right remains although the building is now occupied by a church. This building was previously used as Fox Chevrolet's used car lot. It is located just down the street from their current dealership. These fox statues may have been inspired by Lincoln-Mercury Cougar statues. |

This Beerwolf statue was about seven feet tall. It was installed on someone's front porch. These photos are from 2009. By 2010, the statue was gone. These statues were mass-produced by Coors to promote Coors Light Beer. They wear a "Beerwolf" belt buckle. For more, see this website. [photos thanks Mark Comstock]
This wolf statue, aka "Wolfie", is installed at the Dempewolf Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership. The one-of-a-kind statue was created in the early 1980s and is about 15 feet tall. |

| Mighty Joe was previously located in Wildwood, NJ. He was installed at the Islander Raceway and Amusement Park where he was known as George the Gorilla. Today, a sign covers the two holes in his chest that had slides projecting from them. He was installed here at Mighty Joe's Gas Grill & Deli as a tribute to the owner's son who died of cancer. There two other giant gorilla statues in Wildwood which are long gone. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. |

| The Virginia Beach Gorilla, aka Hugh Mongous, stands in front of the Ocean Breeze Water Park. He is about 55 feet tall and wears a Hawaiian shirt, shorts and sunglasses. The original sculpture was about 65 feet tall and installed here in 1985. It was created in 1978 by Paul Dipasquale for a Richmond bank promotion. Afterwards, the statue was trucked to Virginia Beach to Jungle Falls (later Wild Water Rapids and now Ocean Breeze). The statue was reduced to a shell by fire in 1989. He was restored with clothes and sunglasses added at that time. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. |

This Gorilla statue is installed in front of Scrub University. These gorilla statues have been mass-produced and appear elsewhere around the country. However, this is the only one painted pink that I know of.
This King Kong statue was created in 2002 by Mark Cline. It stands next to the Pink Cadillac Diner. For more, see this website. |

The Gorilla in Cave City stands by the road in a parking lot between an old mini golf and a sports bar. I assume it was originally located on the mini golf course. There were previously other animal statues with him. For more, see this website.
Queen Connie is a 19 feet tall, 16 ton gorilla statue. She holds aloft a VW Beetle at Pioneer Auto Sales, a used car dealer. The statue was built in 1985 by T.J. Neil. The name "Queen Connie of Concrete" came from some school children in a naming contest. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. The King Kong in Livingston is located at Pink Elephant Antique Mall. He appeared to be unpainted fiberglass when this photo was taken in 2012. The Gorilla statue in Rice Lake is installed on the roof of a pawn shop. Does anyone know the history of this guy? This Orangutan statue is installed in front of Greg's Pit Stop bar. These statues were mass-produced and perhaps still are. |

The St. Paul Gopher greets visitors to the Minnesota State Fair. The mascot's name is Fairchild and this concrete statue of him was created in 1966. He holds a pair of tickets in his right hand. Another gopher statue, Fairborne (Fairchild's newphew), was added in 1983. Does anyone have a photo of him?
The Lee Beaver is installed in front of Beaver Self Storage, previously known as Beaver Auctions and Appraisals. The statue was created by the owner's sister, Susan Carty. It was originally made of hay over chicken wire. When the statue started to deteriorate, it was spray painted brown. At some point, the Beaver was decapitated by a vandal. The sculpture was then moved back inside the property's fence. The head was replaced and concrete was added to the statue to protect it. The statue is about ten feet tall. |

| The Portland Beaver is a fiberglass statue created by Hamm's Bear. The beaver was depicted chopping down trees in Hamm's TV commercials. This one was used at a bar and is probably from the mid-1970s. Somewhere along the line, he was repainted to look like a skunk. He is now in a private collector's hands and will be restored to his original colors. For more, see this website. [photos thanks Vintage Roadside] |
