The two Orange Moose and Leaping Deer are located just off I-94. The moose statue was originally located at Moose Peterson's Chevrolet dealership. Peterson's friends painted the statue orange as a prank and he decided to leave it that way. When the dealership closed in the early 1970s, the statue was moved here. According to another source, the moose's orange color comes from a local story about a farmer that found a baby moose and fed it carrot baby food and it grew up to be an Orange Moose. The second orange moose shown here stands in front of the "Orange Moose Bar & Grill", part of the Best Western Arrowhead Lodge & Suites.
There's also a Giant Mouse at the same exit. |
