Dixon's Blind & Awning Service has been around since 1953. I don't know how long this giraffe has been on their roof.
The West Point giraffe stands next to Andy's Building Supply which was closed when these photos were taken in 2010. This statue is made of cement. Does anyone know the history of this guy? The giraffe and elephant at Bel Air Real Estate were produced by TJ's Animal House Art. |

The East Palatka giraffe and elephant are located on private property which is used for kids' parties.
The Greensboro giraffe and elephant are installed in front of the American Furniture Warehouse. There was previously a Putt-Putt miniature golf course here. This Paducah giraffe is 18 feet tall and installed at the Mentor House Gallery. There is also a drinking baby giraffe nearby. The large giraffe is known as Jonny Giraffe while the baby is named Gigi Giraffe. The metal sculptures were created by George Bandarra. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. |

This Giraffe in Lansing is installed on top of a Meijer gas station canopy. The statue has been here since the late 1970s or early 1980s. The Meijer store originally used animal statues to mark parking lot sections in order to help customers remember where they parked. When the store switched to letter signs instead, the giraffe was saved and moved to where it is now. Some of the other animals are now located on the roof of EDRU Skatarama in Holt, MI.
This Giraffe statue in Birch Run is located in front of the Wilderness Trails Zoo. |

There are about 30 or 40 of these giraffes installed at Trader's World, a giant indoor flea market. They were produced by Mark Cline, a sculptor from Natural Bridge, VA. There are other animal statues on display including elephants, horses, zebras, a buffalo and a gorilla. There is also a Muffler Man which was modified by Mark Cline. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
Traxx at Jungle Village features a go-kart track, arcade, maze and a mini golf course. I assume this place started out as Jungle Village with just the mini golf. This concrete giraffe and cheetah are probably from the 1960s or so. They are installed next to the road. There are a few other animal figures, including a gorilla and elephant, on the course itself. |

| The Elephant and Giraffe are a tribute to the 26 circuses that made Delavan their winter home in the late 1800s. The Giraffe is 14 feet tall. The 11 foot tall Elephant is a memorial to Romeo who killed 25 horses and five of his trainers over the years. The statues were created by FAST and erected in 1986. Delavan is also home to the International Clown Hall of Fame. For more, see this website. |

| From 1913-1915, approximately one million fossilized bones were extricated from the La Brea Tar Pits. Most of these bones are from extinct mammals from the Ice Age. The statues in park next to the museum depict some of these animals. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4. |

| The Hodag represents a local legend dating back to 1896. Lumberjacks claimed to have discovered and captured this frightening beast. The whole thing proved to be a hoax but Rhinelander adopted the Hodag as its mascot. The town named a park and sports teams after the Hodag. The name comes from a combination of the words "horse" and "dog". This statue is on display next to the Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Center. Smaller Hodag statues were created in 2008 for a Hodags on Parade local art project. They are decorated in different paint schemes for various businesses. New ones are still being installed. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. |

| The Rhinelapus has been a Monico landmark since the early 1940s. It was originally located at the Lake Venus Tavern. Children loved to climb on it. Also known as the "Green Monster", the upside-down treetop was named for its resemblance to a combination of a rhinoceros, an elephant and an octopus. In 2002, the Rhinelapus was donated to the town of Monico. It has been moved to a park where it is surrounded by chain link fencing. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. |
