These two Giant Mice adorn Wilson's Cheese Shoppe. One is on the roof and the other is on a trailer. The store opened in 1939 but my guess is that the mice are probably from the 1960s or so. For more, see this website.
Atomic Pest Control was founded in 1958. In 1971, the company bought this Memphis Mouse from a local theater that was using him to promote the movie "Willard". He was originally on a trailer and was stolen numerous times by prank-pulling fraternities. So the mouse was moved to the roof in 1978. He stands 10' 10" tall and has an 11' long tail and 3' long whiskers. The cheese is nearly 7' tall. Atomic Pest Control is looking to name him something Memphis-y if you have any suggestions. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. |

This Wisconsin Dells Mouse was once located on the main road next to Mr. Pancake but he is now relegated to a storage lot behind the Noah's Ark water park. It looks like he last advertised for a convenience store.
The Fennimore Mouse was originally known as "Yum-Yum" when he was created for a chain of cheese stores that never materialized. He was discovered in a ditch by the owner of Fennimore Cheese who adopted and placed him in front of his store in 1971. He was named "Igor" after Igor Stravinsky who died the day this mouse was installed. The Fennimore Cheese Co. was sold to Carr Valley Cheese in 2005. Carr Valley initially removed Igor but brought him back because of his popularity. He was restored in 2006. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4. |
