| This former Kresge's was built in 1932. It became Jupiter, a latter-day Kresge's store, around 1970. It has been Stacy's Hallmark since 1978. In 2005, Stacy's created a new sign that looked more like the original Kresge's. In 2007, the storefront was restored (third photo) while incorporating Hallmark's colors. The copper features and pink mortar between the gold bricks were preserved. |

This Bellows Falls J.J. Newberry's was designed in 1928 but not built until 1938. It was originally to have been twice as big but was scaled back with the Depression. Newberry closed in the 1980s and the space became Berry & Co. until the early 1990s. It then sat vacant for nearly a decade. It was renovated and reopened in 2004 with retail space below and condos above. The original sign was completely restored. Two upper level bowling alleys are also being saved.
This North Adams Newberry's opened in 1926 and closed in 1993. Business suffered with the opening of a Kmart and the Berkshire Mall near Pittsfield. However, with the opening of MASS MoCA (the art museum), the downtown area has been revitalized. In 2002, Moulton's opened in the space. The sign's lettering and awning are in keeping with the style of the original occupant. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. This Mars Hill Newberry's closed in the 1980s. In 2009, the building housed the remains of a closed video store. |

Other Newberry's:
Oakland, CA Tampa, FL |
| McCrory's Camden, NJ |
![]() |
| The McCrory's department store chain was founded in 1882. At the company's peak, there were 1,300 locations nationwide. The company filed for bankruptcy in 1992. By 2002, the remaining locations closed. For more, see this website. This Camden location looks like it was built in the 1920s or 1930s. Although it has long since been adapted for other businesses, these original signs remain. |
| Harold's Elmira, NY |

| Harold's appears to have been the original occupant of this now-vacant, apparently Art Deco building. There are tiles near the entrance that still spell out the name. It was "Harold's Army & Navy" (a surplus store) for many years but has been vacant since the 1990s. The window displays make the building look less empty. For more, see this website. |
