The Laramie State Bank, designed by Meyer and Cook, was built from 1927-1929. The building features terra cotta details appropriate for a bank: coins, bees, and squirrels. The interior is no longer used as a bank. For more, see this website.

The Valentine Chicago Boy's Club was built in 1938. The entrance features replicas of Alaskan Coastal Indian totem poles.

Opera, an Asian restaurant, is located in the former Universal Studios Film Exchange which was built in 1937. This building is located on Film Row - a section of Wabash Avenue which has many Art Deco, former movie industry buildings. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

A.W. Enterprises, Inc. has been here since 1962. The building appears to be from the 1940s.

The Irving Park Sears Department Store opened in 1938 with a stampede of customers on opening day. It was designed by Nimmons, Carr & Wright at a cost of $1 million. For more, see this website.

Pontiac's Illinois National Guard Building was built in 1939. The same design was used in Champaign, IL, Elgin, IL, Urbana, IL, and maybe other cities as well.

Chicago's Illinois National Guard Building, aka the Northwest Armory, was built in 1940. The limestone building fills an entire city block. It features panels of uniformed men.

Bowlway Lanes
Elgin, IL
Bowlway Lanes features 16 wood lanes and karaoke. It opened in 1942. For more, see this website.

Campana Building
Batavia, IL
The Campana Building was constructed in 1937. The tower contained a 45,000 gallon water tank. The Campana Company produced "Campana Balm", a hand lotion, and other cosmetics for women. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There has been talk of converting the building to retail use. However, the building has remained vacant for years. Bulldog Lock Co.

The Bulldog Lock Co. is a great little streamline moderne building. It now houses artists' studios. Unfortunately, the sun and trees really hindered my photo-taking but I did the best I could for now. For more, see this website.
