Threefoot Building

The Threefoot Building was completed in 1928 and it is still Meridian's tallest building. The building's name was derived from the builder's name of Dreifus (German translation is "three" + "feet"). Naval Reserve Center

The Naval Reserve Center was designed by John L. Turner and built in 1948. It was used as a training facility for the Navy and Marine Corps. Operations were moved to the Meridian Naval Air Station in 2000. The buildings, now owned by the State of Mississippi, have been vacant since then.

Hercules Powder Co.

The Hercules Powder Co. plant opened on this property in 1923. The company produced chemical products. This building served as the employee cafeteria, club room, and store. I believe it was built in the early 1940s. Ashland Inc. bought the property in 2009 and the plant closed later that year. For more, see this website.
