The Santa Fe Diner is another Valentine on old Route 66 in town. This one was originally called the "Birth Place Diner" (the site of Winslow's first dwelling) and had a small stork on the roof. It was also called the "One Spot Grill". The structure has been painted Southwest colors, an awning has been added, and a canopy connecting it to the adjacent building has been installed. Twin Arrows Café (closed) Twin Arrows, AZ |
The Twin Arrows Café is another Valentine. It has been closed and boarded up since at least the early 1990s. It seems that eventually this diner will either be bought and moved or destroyed, along with the Twin Arrows Trading Post next door. The Twin Arrows, themselves, are now crumbling. The once popular Route 66 stop is now closed off and owned by the state. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.[first photo thanks Glenda Campbell]

The Welcome Diner is a Valentine from the 1930s. It was originally installed in Los Angeles. It wound up in Williams, AZ near the Grand Canyon. It was moved here in 1982 and closed shortly thereafter. It sat for over 20 years before reopening in 2004. The interior still features the wall safe where owners would put a percentage of the day's profits for the Valentine's representative. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
