Restaurant Madrid
Saint-Léonard-d’Aston, QC; Canada
Restaurant Madrid was founded in 1956 as the Moulin Rouge restaurant. In 1959, the owner added a dance hall. In 1967, the restaurant was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt and reopened as Restaurant Madrid in 1968. The place is a popular stop on the Trans Canada Highway as a combination gas station, restaurant and hotel. In addition to this dinosaur collection and the chateau-like architecture, there are several monster trucks. The dinosaurs were created around 1993 and after being displayed around Quebec, they were moved here. These photos are from 2009. In 2011, it was announced that the restaurant had been sold. There are plans to demolish the building and rebuild. There are plans to keep some of the dinosaurs but the monster trucks will be removed. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
