ARBY'S ROAST BEEF & CHUCK WAGONS

Arby's
Huntsville, AL
Arby's
South San Francisco, CA
Arby's
Reno, NV

The original Arby's design from 1964 featured this covered wagon style building. This Huntsville Arby's is one of a handful of locations that still use the original building. However, the front of this one had been altered and expanded. This location was an Arby's from 1967-1973. Then from 1973-1985, it was used as a sub shop and two BBQ restaurants. It became an Arby's again in 1985. It has the original tile floor [photo thanks Lance George]. However, it has a modern sign. For more, see this website.

The South San Francisco Arby's is another example of the classic covered wagon building and giant hat neon sign. Many locations across the country still keep their old neon hat signs even when their buildings are replaced. This location's original tile floor is gone. For more, see this website.

This Reno Arby's building is a modern style box. But it has what seems to be a modern yet unique chasing bulb and neon sign. I've never seen this style sign anywhere else.

Arby's [gone]
Redondo Beach, CA

This Redondo Beach Arby's featured an intact building with Western theme tile floor and neon sign. Unfortunately, just a couple months after this photo was taken in 2008, the building was demolished.

former Arby's
Decatur, GA
former Arby's
Doraville, GA

This former Decatur Arby's is now "Athens Pizza Express". The tile floor still has the old Arby's steer and branding symbols.

This former Doraville Arby's is now "88 Tofu House".

Kaya Restaurant
Cambridge, MA
East Coast Custard
Parma Heights, OH
Arby's
Dayton, OH

This former Cambridge Arby's was remodeled for a Middle Eastern restaurant. It is now used for the Kaya Restaurant which serves Korean and Japanese food. For more, see this website.

This East Coast Custard has occupied this former Arby's since 1985. This was the company's first location. They now have five others. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

This Dayton Arby's has a particularly well-preserved hat sign.

Parkway Motors
Denver, CO
Paycheck Loans
Pueblo, CO

Parkway Motors and Paycheck Loans are former Arby's Roast Beef outlets.

Beaner's Gourmet Coffee
East Lansing, MI

Beaner's Gourmet Coffee, aka Beaner's Cup-A-Cino, inhabits another former Arby's. In 2007, they changed their name to Biggby Coffee. Founded in 1995, this is Beaner's original location. They now have about 50 locations in MI and elsewhere. For more, see their website.

Starbucks
Albuquerque, NM

This Starbucks was originally an Arby's. Visible in the photo on the right is a new-build Arby's just next door. For more, see this website.

Roberto's Taco Shop
Chula Vista, CA
Bob Boast Dodge
Bradenton, FL

This Chula Vista Arby's has been repurposed as Roberto's Taco Shop.

Bob Boast Dodge is another former Arby's. This location supposedly had a seated Pioneer Guy on the roof of their building until 2004 when he was destroyed by a hurricane. But as far as I can tell, these guys were from Wagon-Ho! (another fast food place). Perhaps when Wagon-Ho folded, this Arby's bought the statue?

El Paraiso Ice Cream
San Antonio, TX

El Paraiso Ice Cream occupies another former Arby's.

More Arby's:
Sacramento, CA
South San Francisco, CA

Chuck Wagon
Wheat Ridge (Denver), CO

Apparently this building pre-dates the Arby's covered wagon design. The Chuck Wagon was built in 1961 to look like a Conestoga Wagon. Its most recent tenant was "Silver's Burgers-N-Wings." It previously housed "The Grill Next Door" and "O'Brien's Wings & Things". However, as of 2004, it is vacant.

Taco Loco Wagon
Dallas, TX

The Taco Loco Wagon was supposedly built around 1945-1955. It was previously known as the "Taco Wagon" and the "Fajitas Wagon". It may have also been known as the "Chuck Wagon" originally. Its size and design is so similar to the Chuck Wagon in Denver described above that I believe they were part of a chain. Does anyone know more about them?

More Covered Wagons:
The Chuck Wagon (Wilmington, DE; gone)
Covered Wagon Restaurant (Chicago, IL) [gone]
World's Largest Covered Wagon (Milford, NE)
Cowboy Coffee (Packwood, WA)
