Storyland [gone] Schellsburg, PA |

The 18’ tall Pied Piper still stands at the former entrance road to Storyland which closed in the mid-1980s. He has recently been repainted and a gift shop (Piper’s Place Country Originals) has gone up behind him. The rest of the park is deteriorating behind chain-link fencing. Storyland had a magnificent white entry gate similar to the one at Enchanted Forest in Ellicott City, MD. For more, see this website.

Story Book Forest opened in 1956. In 1982, it became part of Idlewild Park. These photos were taken in winter when the park was closed so the Jack in the Box was missing his arms and many other structures were under wraps. This place is truly a well-preserved wonderland. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
