The Dole Water Tower held 100,000 gallons and was made of tin. It was built in 1928 as a fire control system at the head offices of the Dole Pineapple Corporation in Honolulu. Unfortunately, it had severe rust problems and was disassembled in 1993. It was 195' tall and 25' wide and was one of the best-known landmarks in downtown Honolulu. A simulated shadow was painted onto the adjacent building as a reminder of the tower. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Lake Placid Pineapple is installed on top of a former produce stand sign. The business below it now is Shonda's Souvenirs which appeared closed in 2009.

The Elysburg Lemon serves as a lemonade concession stand at Knoebels Amusement Park. There is an identical stand in Carlsbad, CA.

The Big Slice is 25' long and was created in the 1950s for the town's annual Watermelon Days festival. The giant watermelon is now towed around on a trailer but it used to be motorized.

The Cordele Watermelon is displayed on the main road through town. Cordele claims to be the Watermelon Capital of the World and hosts an annual Watermelon Days Festival.

The Watermelon Water Tower is 154' tall. Luling claims to be the Watermelon Capital of America and holds an annual Watermelon Thump Festival. For more, see this website.

The Bald Knob Watermelon stands in front of Ronnie's Produce Market. It is 25' long and made of laquered cloth over steel. It was originally created for a float in the town's annual parade. For more, see this website.

The Gaffney Peach Water Tower was built in 1981. The leaf itself is 60' long. South Carolina produces more peaches than Georgia. The are lots of peach stands on the stretch of I-85 where this water tower is located. Gaffney is home to an annual Peach Festival. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.

The Big Peach stands between I-75 and the Big Peach Antiques Mall. It is 75' tall, 28' in diameter and is mounted on a 100' tall pole. It was installed in 1985 and is made from vinyl over an aluminum frame. It is illuminated at night. It looks like there is also a peach water tower in Byron that I missed. The Clanton Peach Water Tower is 120' tall. It is taller than the one in Gaffney but not as large. It was built in 1992 by the Chicago Bridge & Iron Company which also built the Gaffney Peach. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Big Peach is about 20' tall and stands in front of a produce market. It has been here since the 1950s. Originally, it advertised for Yates Orchard but new owners renamed the place the Big Peach Market. An obelisk stands next to the Peach, making the pair look quite a bit like the Trylon and Perisphere from the New York World's Fair. For more, see this website.

This Fruit Basket was installed on a 1961 Chevrolet Corvair truck. The foam sculpture was created by Faith Schexnayder who parks this vehicle next to her house/studio, Flat Fork Studios. It was created in 2007 for Austin's First Night New Year's Eve celebration where the truck appeared as a Carmen Miranda float. The fruit has since been removed as the vehicle is used as a daily driver and for other events. For more, see 1 and 2.

These Giant Fruit sculptures are a tribute to the City's agricultural heritage. The six aluminum sculptures include a pear, an apple, a plum, a peach, an apricot and a pair of cherries. They were created by Gerald Heffernon and installed in 2003 in Plaza del Sol. For more, see this website.

The Starke Strawberry stands in front of at J.C. Scales & Tails which sells produce and fish.

Poteet claims to be the strawberry capital of TX. The Poteet Strawberry is 7' tall and made of concrete. It is installed in front of the fire department.

Peck's Farm Market has two big produce stands just down the road from each other. They also sell other foods and gifts, and feature a petting zoo, horse drawn wagon rides, and a children's play area. Peck's Farm Market was established in 1966. I don't know how long these giant food statues have been here. Peck's Farm East also has a pumpkin and a watermelon. The Giant Strawberry and Pumpkin were created around 2001. The Pumpkin is about 12' tall and 8' wide. The Strawberry is about 10' tall and 8' wide. They are mounted on poles at Altenburg's Country Gardens. They are brought down for local parades and towed by a tractor (note the wheels). This farm has been here since 1964. The Blueberry Man is 8' tall and stands at an Irving gas station. He is made of steel and cement. The statue was previously located in Peticodiac, New Brunswick. Masquerade Costume & Tuxedo has what looks like a Giant Lemon on their roof. Does anyone know what this is and what the original business here was?

The Giant Artichoke was built in 1972 and is 20' tall by 12' wide. It is made of concrete and rebar and stands next to the "Giant Artichoke Restaurant". The Field of Corn was created in 1994 by Malcolm Cochran. The 109 ears of corn are made of concrete and bronze. The ears are about 6' tall and arranged in even rows. The site was used as a cornfield from 1935-1963 and became a park when it was donated to the city. This installation is a reminder of the town's heritage (Dublin is now a rapidly developing suburb). This Giant Ear of Corn is part of the Garst Seed Company sign. The corn supposedly rotates but it wasn't when I was there in 2006. Garst was bought out by Syngenta in 2005 but the town wants to keep the sign. The wording will probably be changed but the corn will stay. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

This Minneapolis Ear of Corn is located in the Gaviidae Common Food Court.

This Olivia Ear of Corn is 25' tall and was built in 1973. The fiberglass statue is installed on top of a gazebo in Memorial Park. Olivia claims to be the Corn Capital of the World.

The Corn Water Tower has a 60' tall ear of corn which is lit at night. It has been here at the Libby Foods' Seneca Foods plant since 1931. For more, see this website.
