TWISTEE TREAT (page 2)

Twistee Treat [moving]
Lakeland, FL

Twistee Treat
Plant City, FL
Twistee Treat [removed]
Sarasota, FL

These Lakeland and Plant City Twistee Treats were owned by the same family. The one on the left was sold to new owners and will be reinstalled in 2009 in Eustis, FL. [first photo thanks Wendy Scott]

The Sarasota Twistee was also known as Mel's Drive Thru. The deer-like figure on this Twistee's roof might have been a leftover Christmas decoration that was up year-round. There was also a polar bear in front of the building. The building had been closed and for sale since 2005. In 2009, the building was dissasembled and put in storage in Bradenton, FL. While it appeared that the building sold on eBay for $7,050, I'm told that it is still for sale. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Twistee Treat
Seminole, FL
Twistee Treat
New Port Richey, FL

The Seminole Twistee found new owners in 2009. For more, see this website.

I think this New Port Richey Twistee is gone now. Does anyone know if it was relocated?

Twistee Treat
St. Petersburg Beach, FL
Twistee Treat
Kenneth City, FL

There might have been another Twistee in St. Petersburg Beach at one time. Twistee structures are quite transportable and many have been moved around especially within Florida.

This Kenneth City Twistee has been enclosed to create an indoor dining area. It was known as the Daily Scoop but appeared vacant in 2009.

Twistee Treat
Port Charlotte, FL
Twistee Treat
Port St. Lucie, FL

The Port Charlotte Twistee has been painted pink. It is located at the Sun Flea Market which features shops and rides for the kids.

The Port St. Lucie Twistee was up for sale in 2009 when these photos were taken.

Twistee Treat
North Fort Myers, FL
Twistee Treat
Fort Myers, FL

This North Fort Myers Twistee is supposedly the first Twistee that was built. [photo thanks Bob Patel]

This Fort Myers Twistee has updated their sign to 36 flavors. I believe all the locations originally had just six flavors. This location competes with a Dairy Queen which is directly in front of it.

Twistee Treat
Jacksonville, FL
Twistee Treat
Zephyrhills, FL
Twistee Treat
Hudson, FL

The Jacksonville Twistee also goes by the name of Penny Lane Ice Cream N More.

The Zephyrhills Twistee goes by the name of Dave's Treats now. The building was recently repainted and is currently for sale (see list below).

The Hudson Twistee continues to use the Twistee Treat name. For more, see this website.

Twistee Treat
Tampa, FL
former Twistee Treat
Tampa, FL (now Lake Wales, FL)

The first Tampa Twistee shown above has been repainted a bright yellow.

The second Twistee above has been converted into a Topper's Creamery. This building has been moved to Lake Wales, FL and will be reopening there in 2010. Topper's has three other locations but they are not Twistee Treat buildings. Their Valrico, FL location has a Twistee bottom. The top of that Twistee building was damaged in storage and had to be reproduced. It is more conical in shape. For more, see their website.

Twistee Treat [for sale]
Land O' Lakes, FL
Twistee Treat
Kissimmee, FL

The Land O' Lakes is up on blocks at the back of the lot at Cherry Street Motors. It appears it has been here for awhile and is for sale (see the list at the bottom of this page).

This Kissimmee Twistee has added sprinkles to its roof.

Twistee Treat
Tavares, FL
Twistee Treat
Winter Park, FL
Twistee Treat
Orlando, FL
Twistee Treat
Orlando, FL

The Tavares Twistee, like most Twistees, is located at a shopping center.

The Winter Park Twistee, like many others at the page, keeps the cherry-on-top painted red. I assume that was the original color choice and that this piece serves as an air vent.

The first Orlando Twistee shown above is on E. Colonial Drive. It is also known as Tillie's Twistee Treat. This Twistee was previously installed in Eustis, FL.

The second Orlando Twistee is on S. Orange Blossom Trail. It has been painted half chocolate and half vanilla.

There seems to be a third Twistee in Orlando.

Twirlees
Ocala, FL

This Twirlees kiosk/trailer is a scaled-down Twistee building. It was produced by the Canadian company that bought out Twistee Treat in the 1990s. The company is hoping to franchise in the States. There is another one of these units in West Chester, OH. I believe the Chatham, ON Twirlees, which opened in 2008, is their only other location. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

ice cream stand
Brooklyn, CT

This ice cream stand was obviously inspired by Twistee Treat buildings. The upper ice cream portion is made of spray foam. The stand was closed for the season when I took these photos and there were no signs indicating the name of the place. Does anyone know how long this place has been here or the name?

Hob Nob Hot Dogs
Manteca, CA

Although Hob Nob Hot Dogs was never a Twistee Treat, it must have been inspired by their buildings. This giant cone seems to be made of concrete rather than fiberglass. As far as I know, there were never any Twistee Treats in California. Hob Nob Hot Dogs has been here since at least the 1980s and probably much longer. It may have had a Twistee-ish name when it first opened. This stand features Caspers Famous Hot Dogs.

There is another Twistee Treat look-alike in Soldotna, AK (1 and 2).
