former Pure Oil (gone) Collingswood, NJ |
The Collingswood station was built in 1935. Its last occupant was Smith's Used Cars, from 1979 until 2002. The traffic circle on which the station stood was redesigned (eliminated) and the deteriorating station was put up for sale. It was "dismantled" in late 2003 and the NJ Dept. of Transportation put the roof tiles, doors, etc. in storage. A buyer was eventually found with plans to reconstruct the station in Watertown, NY. This Budd Lake structure appears to have been another Pure Oil. The lone, remaining chimney may have been widened but the basic window size, placement and step-up to the front door are typical Pure design. The building is being renovated for some sort of community function.
This Phillipsburg Pure Oil now houses VIP Cleaners.

I believe this Passaic station was originally a Pure Oil. The dimensions of the office structure seems about right. And the little remaining chimney seems to be an additional give-away to me. This station is now a Getty station and Mekita's Auto Service. The "Kassa" must have been a previous owner's name.
