Cosden Iceberg Gas Station [gone]
Albuquerque, NM
The Cosden gas station was shaped like an iceberg. It was built in the 1930s and located on Route 66. It was operated by the Rio Pecos Oil Company which sold Cosden brand gasoline. It was moved several times before being demolished in 1972. For other giant igloos, see these websites: Igloo City Resort (in Igloo City, AK) and the Igloo Restaurant (formerly of Seattle, WA; 1, 2, 3). For a structure shaped like a block of ice, see the Crystal Ice Company Building.
