former Pure Oil McMinnville, TN |
The McMinnville station was built in 1940 (another source says 1932) and was known as the Spring Street Service Station. It closed in the late 1980s and became home to a taxicab business. It then sat idle for many years. It was recently restored and is now used as an art studio (called "Pure Art"). The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The giant canopy was more commonly used by Pure in the South to provide shade for customers. For more, see this website.

Pure sign Ozone Falls, TN |

This former Chattanooga station might have been one of the smaller non-canopy versions or a Pure imitation. Although the chimneys look a little chunky and don't project from the sides of the building. If it was a Pure, there have been other major alterations as well.
This Pure sign is an odd orphan. It seems to have no relationship to the old building next to it which doesn't look like it could have ever been a gas station.
