CONNECTICUT: MISC. GIANTS

Farmer
United Housewreckers
Stamford, CT
The Stamford Farmer is about 40' tall. He stood for many years ago at the Danbury State Fairgrounds which was demolished and replaced with a mall. The Housewreckers are proud of this guy. They are building a larger facility and will be taking him along and probably restoring him. They say originally the Farmer's arm was outstretched but they fixed it in a down position, figuring it was just safer that way. I'm not sure if they meant for him or the customers below.

Giant Santa & other stuff
Classic Auto Wash
Cromwell, CT
The Classic Auto Wash opened in 1986. The 20' tall, talking Santa came from a former department store in VT. I'm putting this place here although there is only one giant because I don't know where else to put it! This car wash has eclectic collections of roadside and other things, including farm equipment, vintage gas pumps, mini golf figures, nautical stuff, small lighthouses and windmills. Even the number of types of car washes is staggering -- you have ten choices. For more, see this website. For another statuary-rich place, see Del Buono's Bakery in Haddon Heights, NJ. For some other theme car washes, see the Delta Queen (Campbell, CA), the Rainforest Car Wash (Lafayette, IN), and the Grand Prix Car Wash (Chicago, IL).
