| This Giant Farmer was about 40' tall and installed at United House Wrecking. He stood for many years ago at the Danbury State Fairgrounds which was demolished and replaced with a mall. Around 2001 when these photos were taken, United House Wrecking said they were building a larger facility and planned to move this statue there and possibly restore him. However, sometime after that, the statue was broken apart in a storm and destroyed. UHW said that the Farmer's arm was originally outstretched but that they fixed it in a down position, figuring it was safer that way. |

| The Classic Auto Wash opened in 1986. Although there are only a few statues of people here, I'm putting it in this section because I don't know where else to put it! This car wash has an eclectic collection of things old and new: farm equipment, vintage gas pumps, mini golf figures, nautical stuff, small lighthouses, and windmills. Even the types of car washes is staggering -- you have ten choices. This 20' tall, talking Santa came from a former department store in VT. For more giant Santas like this one, see this page. For more, see this website. For another statuary-rich place, see Del Buono's Bakery in Haddon Heights, NJ. For some other theme car washes, see the Delta Queen (Campbell, CA), the Rainforest Car Wash (Lafayette, IN), and the Grand Prix Car Wash (Chicago, IL). |
