| Jacques was an eye-catching giant for Jacques' Roast Beef in the 1960s-1970s. He was originally located in Marion, OH where he held a giant roast beef sandwich. In the 1980s, he held a pizza box when the owner and menu changed (and became known as "Big Pierre"), but now even his hands are missing. There is a Shell gas station next to him now. The 62 foot tall Jesus torso rises from behind a reflecting pool at the Solid Rock Church. The statue is made from fiberglass and styrofoam, over a metal frame. He was installed in 2003. The church refers to him as the "King of Kings" but locals have nicknamed him "Touchdown Jesus", "Drowning Jesus", "Butter Jesus", and "Big J". He is lit at night with spotlights below and quite visible from I-75. In 2010, the statue was destroyed when it was struck by lightning and caught fire. The church will rebuild it. According to legend, King Gambrinus was the inventor of beer. This statue was installed in 1905 above the entrance to the August Wagner Brewery. This brewery was one of 29 located in what is now called the Brewery District. In 1975, the Columbus Dispatch newspaper bought the statue when the brewery closed and was slated for demolition. The statue was restored and put in a park near his original location. There are other Gambrinus statues in Woodridge, IL, Baltimore, MD, La Crosse, WI, and New Orleans, LA.
