Muffler Man
Piedras Negras, Coahuila
Mexico
The Piedras Negras Muffler Man is one of the rarer bowtie-wearing types. He seems to have had a little cosmetic surgery done to his face. It wasn't clear what business he was associated with as the lot he stood on was pretty much vacant and my Spanish is very limited.

Muffler Man
Tijuana, Mexico
Jesus
Tijuana, Mexico
The Tijuana Muffler Man is mounted near the roof of an auto repair shop.

This Jesus statue is one of two enormous hilltop Jesus statues in Tijuana. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.

Le Géant
Ste-Anne-de-Sabrevois, QC
Canada
Le Géant and Mr. Furnace (shown below) appear to be a Canadian variation of the American Muffler Man. They have the same body but a different style head. Le Géant originally stood in front of a pastry shop in Montreal. After that, he was moved here where he wore a paper hat and held a Coca-Cola cup and hot dog. "Coke Man" got a makeover in 2009 when the fast food stand behind him closed. He now advertises for the antiques dealer at the same location. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4. Mr. Furnace

Gnome
Nanaimo, BC
Canada
Mr. Furnace is another Canadian style Muffler Man. He advertises for a heating and air conditioning company.

The Gnome is at an Esso gas station. Does anyone know more about him? [photo Mark Comstock]

Tightrope Walker
Niagara Falls, ON
Canada
Polar Express
Niagara Falls, ON
Canada
Burger King Frankenstein
Niagara Falls, ON
Canada
Mountie
Niagara Falls, ON
Canada
This figerglass Tight-rope Walker represents Charles Blondin who was the first person to cross the Falls on a tight-rope in 1859. The statue was installed in the 1960s and taken down in 2000. He was restored and reinstalled in 2005. He is suspended over the street in front of Louis Tussaud's Waxworks. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.

The Polar Express is a motion simulator ride. This statuary group is installed above the entrance.

The Burger King Frankenstein is a reference to the House of Frankenstin attraction next door (a haunted house with wax figures).

This Mountie is not really giant (maybe slightly less than life-size) but he is another of the fun photo-ops in the Falls.

Iron Man, Captain America, and Superman
Hamilton, ON
Canada
These Marvel comic book superhero statues are installed at Flamborough Patio Furniture. There are several other statues on the property, including these dinosaurs.
