Michaelangelo's David Sioux Falls, SD

The full-scale casting/replica of Michaelangelo's David was created by Thomas Fawick and donated to the city in 1971. It was placed in a downtown park despite much controversy over the statue's nudity. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.

Presidents Park Lead, SD

Presidents Park features 20' tall busts of all the U.S. presidents. They were created by David Adickes who was inspired by nearby Mt. Rushmore. Presidents Park opened in 2003 and also has a café and gift shop. Unfortunately, the place was closed when I was there in 2006 so I could only get these photos through the fence for now. The relief sculpture of Lincoln (first photo above) is just north of the park. Adickes opened a second Presidents Park in Williamsburg, VA in 2004. He has also created a giant Sam Houston in Huntsville, TX. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Presidents Park Information Center Rapid City, SD

The Presidents Park Information Center is a promotion for the park which is south of Rapid City.
