Cherokee Village Auto Center
Parkersburg, WV
former Muffler Man
Elkins, WV
The Indian Muffler Man at Cherokee Village Auto Center was installed here in the late 1960s or early 1970s.

In 2001, all that remained of the Lumberjack Restaurant and its Muffler Man was this pair of shoes. The statue was apparently sawed off at the ankles. I don't know what happened to the rest of him. This statue would have looked like the one in Richwood shown below. It is believed that this Elkins statue was ordered and installed around 1998 from someplace in Roanoke, VA. It's possible that this might have been a Mark Cline statue like the one in Monroe, OH. Cline has a mold for the statue and his shop is about 40 miles from Roanoke.

Richwood, WV
This Muffler Man stands on top of the scoreboard at Richwood High School's football field. The lumberjack is the school's mascot and their colors are black and orange. For more, see this website.

private collection
Unger, WV
This private collection contains several Muffler Men and other fiberglass statues. George and Pam Farnham started their collection with the Midas Muffler Man with the gold crown from Whittier, CA. In 2005, they acquired a 25 foot tall Beach Guy from Cincinnati, OH. That statue was originally located at an amusement park in NY where he held a Pepsi. Soon after that, the Farnhams bought a Big John (holding groceries) from Benton, IL. The Muffler Man with the green checked shirt came from Florida around 2007. In 2008, the Farnhams bought a Uniroyal Gal from Byram, MS. Her blue mini skirt and yellow top add-on outfit lays in the grass. Around 2008, a Hamburger Man was added to the collection. That statue is about 10 feet tall and came from Indiana. The first Santa shown above was previously located in Maine. The Santa in the bottom row came from Dallas, TX. The photos of him are from 2007. The statue was not there when the rest of these photos were taken in 2012. The Ranger Smith and Cindy Bear statues came from a Jellystone Park in Michigan. The Boo-Boo Bear was added later. For more about this collection, see these websites: 1 and 2.
