Cyril Griglak began building plaster animals in his backyard in Perryopolis, PA when he was in his eighties. He produced them for about 15 years until his death in 2005. Among the more than 20 animals are a tiger, a lion, a turtle, a rhinoceros, a cheetah, a bear, a zebra, and a kangaroo. Griglak's pulley system enables a gorilla to bounce and a spider to chase a dragonfly. Unfortunately, I was there at sunset so these photos are the best I can do for now. Griglak also designed a float with plaster people that he brought to the Perryopolis Pioneer Days and Halloween parades. [thanks Doug Horwat for the daytime shots]
It's not known what will become of Griglak's sculptures since his wife has also passed away and they had no children. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
