Prairie Moon Sculpture Garden

Herman Rusch (1885-1985), a retired farmer, opened a museum in Cochrane, WI to display his collection of souvenirs and natural oddities. In 1958, he built his first structure: a 267' long wall of concrete arches. Colored glass, pebbles, pieces of mirror and broken pottery were inlaid into the cement which was tinted with red dye.

Rusch continued building until 1974. His sculpture garden contains more than 40 pieces including dinosaurs, a cactus, a watch tower, and a self portrait. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
