Piedmont Boutique
San Francisco, CA
Ozymandias
Amarillo, TX
This Toe Truck was created in 1996 and is located at Lincoln Towing. Unfortunately, it was parked behind a fence when I was there so I could only shoot it from the back. There were two of these trucks created: a left and a right foot. The original foot, the left one, was created in 1980 and is now located at MOHAI (the Museum of History and Industry). This truck was built from a 1959 VW bus and had no doors. The driver had to enter the cab from the back window. That truck was moved to the museum in 2005. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The Piedmont Boutique sells costumes, lingerie, jewelry, purses, etc. This pair of legs with fishnet stockings protrudes from an upstairs window above the shop. For more, see this website. There are similar legs in Brighton, England.

The Ozymandias statue consists of two giant legs (one 34' tall, the other 24' tall). It was created around 1997 by Lightnin' McDuff who was commissioned by Stanley Marsh III (the creator of Cadillac Ranch). There is a plaque with the poem that inspired this work of art. In 2006, athletic socks were painted on them. By 2010, the socks were covered with other graffiti. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Pilgrim's Pride, a poultry producer, was founded in 1946 by Bo Pilgrim. In the late 1960s, a giant pilgrim's hat, Bo's trademark, was mounted on the roof of Pilgrim's Place, a restaurant in downtown Pittsburg. When the restaurant closed in 2001, the hat was put in storage. In 2002, the company commissioned a 37 foot tall fiberglass bust of Bo on which to display the giant hat. The bust was installed in front of their freezer and distribution plant. In the gazebo under the bust, there is also a bronze statue of Bo Pilgrim reading the Bible with his chicken, Henrietta. In 2010, it was announced that Pilgrim's Pride was moving its headquarters to Greeley, CO. Part of their business and this bust will remain. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
