FAKE CASTLES (page 1)

Castle Car Wash
Chicago, IL

The Castle Car Wash was built in 1925 as the John J. Murphy Filling Station. It was a Standard Oil station until at least 1970 and then became a garage/car wash. The building has been mostly vacant since the early 1980s. The crenellation on top of the tower was removed. In 2009 (bottom row of photos), the building was being restored for use as a restaurant. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Castle Auto Sales
Akron, OH

The Castle Auto Sales building appears to be an oldie. Does anyone know when it was built or what its original function was?

Castle Car Wash
Long Beach, CA

This Castle Car Wash is apparently a much more recent construction.

Tire King
Dover, DE

The Tire King building was originally a gas station. In the 1960s, Tire King took over. They expanded the office section at the right, keeping the same castle-like roofline.

Diamond Castle
Cocoa Beach, FL

The Diamond Castle is a pawn shop. Does anyone know what this building was originally used for and when it was built?

Round Table Sports Bar & Lounge
Miami, FL
Beverage Castle
Tampa, FL

The Round Table Sports Bar & Lounge appears to be a castle-style adaptation of a 1940s building. Does anyone know the history of this building?

This Beverage Castle is part of a former, apparently regional chain with castle-style buildings. This one appeared vacant in 2009. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4.

M.D. Custom Cycles
Key Largo, FL
Fairy Tale Academy
Upper Darby, PA

M.D. Custom Cycles occupies this castle style building. Does anyone know what was here originally?

The Fairy Tale Academy, a child care and learning center, is housed in this castle-like building. For more, see their website.

Castle Keep Storage
Hudson, FL
Garage Sale Store
Culver, IN

Castle Keep Storage was built in the early 1990s to resemble a castle. A "castle keep" was the safest part of the castle and where the most precious possessions were kept. For more, see their website.

The Garage Sale Store previously housed Castle Storage.

Shoe Castle
Decatur, IN

I believe this building was originally the Shoe Castle, a shoe store. After that, it was used as a fast food restaurant. It is now a MediaCom office. Does anyone know more about it?

Wireless Wizard
Bridgeport, CT
castle building
Tacoma, WA

The Wireless Wizard was built around 2007. It has castle-related items inside as well.

I don't have any information about this Tacoma castle building. It might have been a house but its location on a commercial strip makes me think this was probably a restaurant or hotel. Does anyone know this building's history?
