The Office Chair was built in the early 1980s and is 33 feet tall. It was built by the Miller Office Supply in the vacant lot next to its store. The chair once had a spiral staircase leading to its seat. It was repainted from red to brown in 2006. For more, see this website.

Bassett's Mission Chair is one of the most recent giant chairs created. This one is just over 20 feet tall and was modeled after Basset Furniture's best seller. It was made in 2002 of layered ash with a fiberglass seat. Currently, it is on tour across the U.S.

The Italian Chair was built in 1995 and is hands-down the largest chair in the world. It is 65 feet tall -- the equivalent of a seven-story building. It is made of wood and steel and was created by Promoseida, a chair manufacturer. This company is located in an area called the "Chair Triangle" which produces nearly one-third of all the world's chairs. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.

The Giant Chair in Los Angeles is located at the LA Mart, a furniture sales and distribution center. It is 40 feet tall and was installed in 2003. It was made in Italy by Friuli which made the World's Largest Chair. There is another giant chair in Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center.

The Hagerstown Rocking Chair is installed on the roof of the Hagerstown Furniture Outlet.

The Anderson Rocking Chair stands in front of an unidentified, former business.

The Waynesville Rocking Chair is about 12 feet tall and was built around 1994. Since this photo from 2003, it has been painted red.

This Rocking Chair is 21 feet tall and 14 feet wide. It was made from Douglas fir trunks in 1990 for Doxey's Apple Shed. Doxey's has been closed since 2008 but the chair remains behind the chain link fencing which surrounds the property. For more, see this website.

The Rocker in Waldo is known as the Big Chair. It is meant to draw attention to flea market next to it.

The Star of Texas Rocker is 26 feet tall and weighs 4 tons. It is made of cedar logs. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Chair in Pinetop was about 15 feet tall and 8 feet across. It was made of pine by Curt Meyer who makes other furniture for the Wild Woods store. This photo was taken in 2004. By 2012, the store and chair were gone.

The Warren Chair is installed next to James Income Tax Service.

The 25 foot tall Mio Chair is located at Genevieve's Flowers & Gifts. It was made from cedar by James Jennings in 2004.

The Gulfport Rocker is 35 feet tall and made of pine. It stands in front of the Dedeaux Clan Furniture Factory. It was damaged in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina. In 2007, it was restored by the Hampton Save a Landmark program. For more, see this website.

The New Braunfels Rocker stood next to the Mexican Rocker Café. The chair remains but the restaurant goes by a different name now.

The Bunker Hill Rocker is about 13 feet tall. It was built around 1978 for a furniture refinishing business and has been replaced twice. There doesn't seem to be a related business there now.

The Austinburg Rocker is 25 feet tall "Boston rocking chair". It was built in the 1960s for a furniture company. As of 2005, it stands next to Country Cousins which sells gazebos, storage barns and gifts. The store has previously been a lumberyard and a video store.

The Cuba Rocker is 46 feet tall. It was built in 2008 from wood and steel. For more, see this website.

The Emlenton Chair was located behind the Citgo station right off I-80. The chair and the accompanying giant wheelbarrow behind it may have been an advertising gimmick for Jo Jo's Country Gift Shoppe nearby. In 2005 when this photo was taken, the chair was in pretty bad shape. By 2008, both the chair and wheelbarrow were gone.

The Easy Glider Rocking Chair is located at the Big Chair Resort. It is about 33 feet tall and is made entirely of logs. It was built in 2008.

This Adirondack Chair is 10 feet tall was installed in front of "Oak Barn Solid Oak Furniture" in 2001. In 2004, a driver fell asleep at the wheel and destroyed the chair. It was restored and then, in 2005, the chair was picked up and damaged in a windstorm. It was repaired again and installed more securely. As of 2007, the chair was repainted red, white and blue (second photo above). There was an identical chair at the store's Ruckersville, VA location which is now gone. The store in Fredericksburg is now closed as well. I don't know if this chair is still there. [first photo thanks Jonathan at Oak Barn]

The St. Paul Adirondack Chair was originally built in 1995 for the Green Chair Project. The chair was made of untreated materials and was rebuilt in 2002. It is located in North High Bridge Park. For more, see this website.

The D.C. Adirondack Chair stands on the front lawn of Duke Ellington School. It was built in 1996 by Georgetown University students as a gift to the Ellington School as part of the Green Chair Project.

The Adirondack Chairs in Beaver Bay are located at the Cove Point Lodge. They are about 10 feet tall.

The Adirondack Chair in Sonoma is one of two purple chairs installed at Cornerstone Place.

The Chair in Lee's Summit acted as the entrance to MTC Furniture. The building is now home to KC Boats (aka KC Marine).

This Patio Chair is located inside Sunnyland Patio Furniture. It is about seven feet tall. The chair has been here since the early 1990s. It represents a Tamiami lounge chair by Brown Jordan.
