The Schaller's Paint paint can still revolves. It was repainted between 2005 and 2008. The first photo above is from 2005; the second from 2010.
The Model Wallpaper & Paint Co. store opened in 1941. This giant paint can is obviously from later. Andrew Inc. opened in 1948 as Andrew Paint. This paint can sign is installed on the roof. I believe it still revolves. The Paint Store's paint can is missing its handle and no longer spins, if it ever did. This Morris Paint paint can was built in the 1950s and was outlined with neon. It was repainted in recent years for the building's new tenant, the Landmark Group. For more, see their website. |

Ricciardi Brothers is a regional paint store chain that has been around since 1929. This location features a rooftop paint can.
The Creative Walls paint can is incorporated into their sign. Hamline Hardware was founded in 1926. A fire destroyed the store in 1959 and they rebuilt at the same location. The store's paint can features Hardware Hank. It has been there since the 1950s but no longer spins. Sometime after 2009, the can was wrapped rather than repainted. The handle is now missing as well. The first photo above is from 2007; the other photos from 2011. |

The Rainbow Paint & Wallpaper Company features a Dutch Boy Paints paint can. I have not seen the add-on figure or handles like this before. This sign probably revolved originally.
The Triplett Paint & Decorating sign features three paint cans. Lozon Ace Hardware was established in 1923. This store features a half paint can sign. I suspect this was originally a full paint can that was adapted and moved here. This giant Pioneer Paint Can appeared to be abandoned on a roof. There was no paint store anywhere nearby. The Paint Can in Shippensburg is installed at A&A Decorative Display next to I-81. It has been here for many years. It was originally built as a water storage tank. It is about 35 feet tall. The Miami Paint Can has been around since the late 1940s or early 1950s. It advertised the O-Gee Paint store below. The Complete Angler, a bait & tackle shop, has taken over the building and grandfathered sign. In 2003, it was repainted and altered slightly to resemble a bait bucket with fish in the pouring water. For more, see their website.
Scott Paint has been around since 1965 and now has 24 locations on the West Coast of FL. Their original six stores in the Sarasota/Bradenton/Venice area had paint can signs (two of these stores still have the original cans). The cans never revolved. The company continues the tradition - repairing their older cans and placing look-alikes at their newer locations where sign ordinances permit them. This Bradenton can is from 1996. All the stores' cans survived four hurricanes in 2004. For more, see their website. The Southern Paint Can has been here since at least the 1960s. It was revolving in 2005, however, it was not in 2009. |

The Syracuse Paint Can is installed on the roof of Dunford Painting and Restoration.
Texarkana Paint & Flooring had two giant Devoe paint cans: one on their roof and another mounted on a pole. The one on the pole probably revolved at one time. The company moved in 2010 and left these cans behind. They were still there in 2011. |

The Rochester Paint Can is installed on the roof of Struve's Paint. Struve's has been around since 1947.
The Flaherty Paint sign appears to be modern. I believe the company was established in 1990. For more, see this website. |

The Houston Paint Can is installed on the roof of Southwestern Paint. It probably revolved originally.
The Topeka Paint Can is mounted above a plastic box sign at Allied Paints. The sign is two-sided and revolves. [photo thanks Glenda Campbell] The Paint Can in Salem is installed at Superior Paint & Wallpaper. The Paint Can in Columbia stands in front of Columbia Paint & Wallpaper. Paragon Paint & Wallpaper had this giant paint can sign dating from 1960. It used to revolve at one time. In 2004, Verizon Wireless took over the building and cut the paint can off the sign. They kept the small rectangular sign at the bottom and put the Verizon logo on that. The Paint Can in Roanoke is in front of the Northwest True Value Hardware store. |

Siperstein Paint & Decorating Centers was founded in 1904 and now has more than 20 locations in NJ, CT, and MA. The Jersey City can is a visible landmark on the Holland Tunnel approach to NYC. It is illuminated at night and probably had a handle originally. The Union can looks like it probably rotated at one point. The Linden store features another old can that no longer rotates, if it ever did. The Wall Township store features a paint can entrance. The Trenton store has an even larger paint can entrance.
The North Plainfield cans were accompanied by a giant roll of wallpaper. Unfortunately, the company sold or leased part of its building to Birdsall Bath Design in 2009. There are only two paint cans left now (see third photo above). For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. |

Paint Plus features a pouring paint can on its roof. For more, see this website. [photo thanks Mark Comstock]
The Paint Can in Wytheville was installed at The Paint Store in the 1990s. Video Mania was originally a paint store. The animated neon created the effect of the cans pouring rainbows of paint. When I was there in 2008, the store was being gutted. By 2009, the paint cans were gone. For more, see this website. The Waldorf Paint Can is installed at Empire Graphics. I don't know if this is an adapted old paint can or if it was recently built by the sign company. |

| This paint can is installed on the roof of Evans Do it Best Lumber. It appears to have been here quite awhile. The faded text on the pouring paint reads "Quality HWI Paints". |
