The Pensacola Goofy Golf opened around 1958 and was part of the Goony Golf chain. Some other examples can be found here: Chattanooga, TN, Spring Lake, MN, and Lake George, NY. Many of the chain's figures were inspired by those at Lee Koplin's courses, the most famous of which is in Panama City Beach, FL.
In early 2005, this location was pretty run down despite some effort to maintain it. Hurricane Ivan blew through in 2004 and that didn't help. However, a new owner fixed up the place and it reopened in 2007. The two courses have some original figures, as well as additions from a Sir Goony course from around 1978. During the recent renovation, several modern figures have been added. For more, see these websites: 1, 2 and 3. [2007 photos thanks Jeremy Marsh, owner]
