Valleybrook Mini Golf [gone] Chadds Ford, PA |
The Valleybrook appeared to be an updated classic course with a charming mix of old-style holes, each with its own theme, complemented with new figures and a token waterfall. The emphasis was on the driving range at the same site. The place was razed in 2003 and replaced with an enormous condo complex.

PuttU (Putting University) Center Valley, PA |
PuttU has two immaculate, 18-hole courses (the Red Course and the Blue Course). The holes are really scaled down real golf with faux deep grass carpeting and sand traps using actual sand. There are subtle hills, bends and water traps. Each hole has a score-keeping stand with photo, par, yardage and quotations. If this is the wave of the future, okay, bring it on! Village Greens Miniature Golf Strasburg, PA |
Village Greens Miniature Golf is one of my personal favorites. It has two 18-hole courses covering 13 acres. The Orange course was built in 1972. The more elaborate and challenging Gold course was built in 1984. Both courses were designed by Oscar Patters who later designed Pine Creek Golf in NJ. Village Greens offers beautiful landscaping (with shade, water and swans!), tricky holes, and allusions to real golf and traditional mini golf. Pleasant perks include spare golf balls at most holes and clean bathrooms halfway through the lengthy Gold course. For more, see their website.
