Pier 66 Hotel
Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Pier 66 Hotel was built in 1967. It is now known as the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Resort. I believe the crown's cocktail lounge still revolves once every 66 minutes. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Ireland's Inn [closed]
Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Ireland's Inn was designed by Charles McKirahan and George Waddey and opened in 1965. It closed in 2006 and despite the efforts of preservationists, it appears the hotel will be demolished. For more, see this website.

Howard Johnson [closed]
Fort Lauderdale, FL
Jolly Roger Motel
Fort Lauderdale, FL
This Howard Johnson hotel was built in 1965 and renovated in 2002. It has been closed since 2007 and there are plans to demolish the building. For more, see this website.

The Jolly Roger Motel, now the Ramada Inn Sea Club Resort, was built from 1952-1954, designed by M. Tony Sherman. I believe it changed names in the mid-1980s. The Jolly Roger has nautical features including porthole windows and a smokestack with cheesehole cutouts. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Manhattan Tower
Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Manhattan Tower, now the Manhattan Tower Apartment Hotel, was built in 1952 for General Motors as a corporate retreat. It was designed by Charles McKirahan and features a 50' tall circular tower staircase made of steel pipes. For more, see their website.

A similar tower existed in Miami Beach at the Bon-Aire Motel.

Sea Tower
Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Sea Tower was designed by Igor Polevitsky and built in 1957. The 11-story condo building was always an apartment building, not a hotel, as far as I know. It features a boomerang footprint with a half mile of cantilevered balconies overlaid with concrete screen block. For more, see this website.
