FUTUROS

Futuro
Willingboro, NJ
The Futuro was a spaceship-style house developed in the late 1960s. This example is now used as office space in Mill Creek Park. Despite its poor condition and the add-on conventional entrance, it is one of the few survivors. There was once a Futuro in Princeton, NJ. I don't know if this is the same one and was moved here or the other one has simply disappeared.

For more about Futuros, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Futuro
Greenwich, NJ
Futuro
Rockwall, TX
The Greenwich Futuro was part of the "Planet of the Apes" ride which was built in 1975 on Morey's Pier in Wildwood, NJ. In the late 1970s, the ride was changed to a "Star Wars" theme and that's probably when they got rid of the Futuro. It has been here since 2003 near the Bait Box Restaurant and remains unrestored. For more, see this website.

The Rockwall Futuro has been abandoned here for several years. For more, see this website.

Futuro
Pensacola Beach, FL
This Futuro was built in 1966. It sits on the roof of a house on this small barrier island which was devastated shortly before these photos were taken. While other homes were destroyed and de-roofed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, this structure held up pretty well. Cinder blocks barricade the ramp out back that leads up to the Futuro to discourage trespassers. Little alien faces can be seen peering from the front and rear windows of the Futuro. The structure has since been restored. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Futuro
Tampa, FL
Futuro
Covington, KY
This Tampa Futuro sits on the roof of the 2001 Odyssey strip club. It is used as a VIP room for private dances.

This Covington Futuro is a private residence on a hill overlooking Cincinnati, OH. Note that this Futuro appears to have only half the amount of original windows. For more, see this website.

Futuro
Houston, DE
Futuro
Lewes, DE
This Houston Futuro is on residential property, at the end of a long driveway. I have read about a Futuro in Harrington, DE which I believe refers to this one.

This Lewes Futuro is at the Eagle Crest Aerodrome. For more, see this website.

Futuro
Frisco, NC
The Frisco Futuro is on private property but right next to the main road. It doesn't seem to be used for anything right now but the house behind it looks lived in. This Futuro was painted green at one time and was used as an ice cream/hot dog stand that sold retro "space age" items.

Futuros
Carlisle, OH
These two Futuros have been joined with a space-age pipe breezeway. The owner's first Futuro came from Springboro, OH. He got the second one later from NY. The structures are used as a residence and have central air and enough insulation to stay toasty in winter. One of the Futuros has an original interior. When I was there, the owner was busy painting and maintaining them. He also has a huge satellite dish and a cool-looking garage. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
