RLDS Temple
Independence, MO
The RLDS Temple, aka the Community of Christ Temple, was designed by HOK (Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, Inc.) and completed in 1993. Not mid-century but I'll sneak it in anyway. The 300 foot tall stainless steel spire was inspired by a nautilus seashell. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.
