Double Diamond House
Westhampton Beach, NY
The Double Diamond House was designed by Andrew M. Geller and built in 1959. It is also known as the Pearlroth House and has been nicknamed the "Square Bra" and the "Box Kite". The structure has been vacant since at least 2005 while preservationists have been fundraising and finding a place to move it to. In 2007, it was announced that it will be moved five miles east of its present location. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Bubble House

Edward Durrell Stone House
New York, NY
The mid-century Bubble House has plastic domed windows mounted in aluminum frames.

The Edward Durrell Stone House was built as a typical Victorian brownstone. In 1956, when architect Stone moved in, he added this concrete grille which resembled his American Embassy design in New Delhi. Stone's widow removed the grille in 1987. It was rebuilt around 1999 and is now a protected landmark. For more, see this website.

Gramercy Park Towers

The Gramercy Park Towers were built in 1965.

Mushroom House
Rochester, NY
The Mushroom House was designed by Jim Johnson and built in the 1970s. This private residence rises above a stream at the Powder Mills Park entrance. Johnson also designed Temple Sinai in Rochester, NY.
