| The former Baptist Annuity Center was built in 1957. When the Baptist Annuity Center left the building, it was renamed "511 N. Akard" (its address). It has been vacant for many years. In 1999, conversion to condos fell through. There are now plans to convert the building into low-income housing. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4. |

The 211 North Ervay building was built in 1958. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
The Christian Education Building was initially built as housing for the Criswell Bible Institute between 1972-1973. The Bullington-Akard Skywalk connects several downtown buildings as part of the Dallas Pedestrian Network. I think it was build too recently to be mid-century but I'll include it anyway. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. |

| The Republic National Bank Building, now the Republic Center, was built in 1954. At the time, it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. It was designed by Harrison and Abramovitz. The building features aluminum panels and a 150 foot tall projecting rooftop beacon. The beacon once revolved and pulsated with neon. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. |
