| The Loveless Café & Motel started in 1951 when Lon and Annie Loveless set up picnic tables on their front lawn and sold fried chicken and biscuits. They converted their house into the restaurant, known originally as the Harpeth Valley Tea Room. The restaurant today continues to feature Southern foods. | The Lorraine Motel was built in the 1960s. It is famous for being the place where Martin Luther King was shot in 1968. The motel closed in 1982 but it was saved for its historic significance.
