Dawn Donuts started out as a bakery in 1920 in Jackson, MI. "Dawn" referred to the time that the bakers started working. There were at least 49 Michigan locations at one time. I believe the pointy-roofed buildings shown below were built in the mid-1960s. Dunkin' Donuts bought the chain in 1991. Dunkin' still operates out three former Dawn Donuts buildings (see below). Dawn Donuts survives as Dawn Food Products, a wholesale producer of bakery mixes. For more, see this website.

Dawn Donuts Waterford, MI	Dawn Donuts Flint, MI

These Waterford and Flint locations are the only Dawn Donuts locations still in operation with these pointy roofed buildings. The Flint location is the only one left with a "Baker Boy" sign. There may be one of these signs at a museum in Washington state. A few others are in private collections. For more, see this website.

This location closed in 2007 and the sign was removed. In 2011, the building was still vacant.

Dunkin' Donuts former Dawn Donuts Jackson, MI	Dunkin' Donuts former Dawn Donuts Battle Creek, MI	Dunkin' Donuts former Dawn Donuts Midland, MI

The Jackson, Battle Creek and Midland are the three former Dawn Donuts buildings that now house Dunkin' Donuts locations.

former Dawn Donuts Portage, MI

This Portage location was last occupied by MacKenzie's Bakery. The building has been vacant since at least 2008. These photos are from 2011.

Metro PCS former Dawn Donuts Saginaw, MI	Quiznos former Dawn Donuts Bay City, MI

This Saginaw location now houses a Metro PCS store. It housed the Taste of India restaurant before that. The Bay City location closed around 1992. The building has housed a Quiznos restaurant since the late 1990s.

Bell's Pizza former Dawn Donuts East Lansing, MI	Windchill Donut Shop former Dawn Donuts Port Huron, MI

The East Lansing location has housed Bell's Pizza for many years. The Port Huron location has housed the Windchill Donut Shop since at least 2001.

Don's Donuts former Dawn Donuts Northwood, OH

Don's Donuts occupies this former Dawn Donuts building. The sign was adapted and still uses Dawn's diamond motif. This location has been around since 1964 as mentioned in this advertisement for two locations in Toledo, OH. There was probably a Baker Boy sign here as well.
