FIRESTONE BUILDINGS (page 1) |
Although these are not car dealerships, I can't resist including a small section on Firestone Tire buildings which used similar architectural elements such as large plate glass windows, sloping roofs, and dramatic signage.
former Firestone Fort Worth, TX |
The former Fort Worth Firestone was built in 1930 as part of Fort Worth's "Automobile Row". In 1999, the building was converted into office space for the luxury apartments next door. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
former Firestone Orlando, FL |
The former Orlando Firestone was built from 1928-1929 and operated as a Firestone Tire store until 1977. The building features an Italianate bell-tower. It has been occupied by Club Firestone (a nightclub) since the early 1990s.
former Firestone Amarillo, TX |
The former Amarillo Firestone was designed by Joseph Champ Berry and built in 1930. The building now appears to be vacant.
Firestone Austin, MN |
Despite the filled-in windows, this Austin Firestone still retains its original form and brick work. The building probably had more detail at one time.
Firestone Ann Arbor, MI |
This Ann Arbor Firestone looks to be from the 1930s.
Firestone Ventura, CA |
The Ventura Firestone is one of the prettiest, and still operating, locations. I have not seen the Firestone shield logo with a tire anywhere else.
Firestone Santa Barbara, CA |
The Santa Barbara Firestone now houses the Santa Barbara Business College.
Firestone El Paso, TX |
This El Paso Firestone was built in 1928. It features a huge canopy and nice details.
This Gainesville Firestone building appeared to be abandoned in 2009.
