The Happy Hour Club opened in 1933 but hasn't been open for years.

The California Club is right next door and is still open. For more, see this website.

The peeling paint on the Izy's Corner Pub sign reveals that it was red at one time. For more, see this website.

The Foothills Motel was built in 1955. Their signs were restored around 2006 and they are lit at night. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.

Lou La Bonte's opened in 1946. Their huge sign is lit at night. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The U Drive sign is from at least the 1940s. It was restored in the 1990s.

Toy Boat, officially named "Toy Boat * Toy Boat * Toy Boat, is a local chain. The neon sign is probably from a pre-existing toy store at this location.

Zinke's Shoe Repair
Pasadena, CA
Spring Garden
Restaurant
Pasadena, CA
Public Storage Co.
Pasadena, CA
The Zinke's Shoe Repair chain was established in 1919. This sign, which I believe is still lit at night, is from 1948. There is a similar sign in Glendale, CA. There was another sign in Glendale which was removed and later destroyed.

The Spring Garden Restaurant sign has a nice mid-century design. Does anyone know if this is the original business here or if this sign has been updated?

The Public Storage Co. sign previously advertised for Bekins Storage. It was adapted later for A-American Storage. The 32 foot long, double-sided sign is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was installed in 1926 as a bulb sign with the text "Standard Fireproof Storage Company. "Standard Fireproof was changed to "Bekins" in 1929. The sign was converted to neon at that time. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Hi-Way Host Motel

Buca di Beppo
Pasadena, CA
The Hi-Way Host Motel sign is probably from the 1950s. It is lit at night. For more, see this website.

Talbott Electric was established in 1924. This sign is probably from the 1950s. It features a representation of Reddy Kilowatt.

This Buca di Beppo restaurant sign is modern. The first location opened in Minneapolis in 1993. There are about 88 locations now which, I believe, all feature this same sign. The design was probably based on the Cantina Italiana sign in Boston, MA. For more, see this website.

Pasadena, CA
Original Whistle Stop
Pasadena, CA

C&H Surplus is an electronics and hobby shop. They moved to Duarte in 2008 and I'm not sure what will happen with this sign.

The Original Whistle Stop has been selling model trains since 1951. When the business moved to a different location in town, the original sign was brought along. With help from the Pasadena Cultural Heritage Foundation, the sign was reinstalled many months later. The sign is animated with neon spinning wheels and puffing smoke. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Cameron's Seafood

South Pasadena, CA
Cameron's Seafood opened in 1984. This sign is lit at night. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Fair Oaks Pharmacy opened in 1915 as the South Pasadena Pharmacy. It was known as the Raymond Pharmacy in the 1920s and 1930s. The pharmacy was restored in the early 1990s. Antique cabinetry and a soda fountain from the McGee Pharmacy in Joplin, MO were installed at that time. These neon signs are lit at night. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Gus's Barbecue
South Pasadena, CA
Gus's Barbecue opened in 1946. In 1987, an earthquake forced the closure of the building. The restaurant reopened in 1990. These neon signs are still lit at night. The pigs and chickens around the edge of the vertical sign are sequentially lit. That sign appears to be from the 1950s. The neon on the front of the building is probably from later. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.
