The Four Winds Motel sign appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s.
This former Chief Restaurant sign is from the 1950s. It is now installed in front of the Toh Atin Gallery. There is an identical sign at a used car lot in Cincinnati, OH. It was built for a Pontiac dealership. I don't know what the relationship was, if any, between this Durango restaurant and the car dealership in Cincinnati. These signs originally had neon. The Indian's mechanical arm moved up and down creating the illusion that the he was waving. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. The Caboose Motel sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. I believe the Siesta Motel sign is from the 1950s. |
