This Hotel Elkton sign was probably built in 1959 which is when the Patio Restaurant opened. The sign is lit at night. For more, see this website.

This Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop opened in 1928. The chain was established in Iowa in 1926. This sign appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s. Another old location exists in Macomb, IL. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

This Pepsi sign is from the early 1960s when the Pepsi bottling plant below it was built. The building is no longer used by Pepsi. The sign was refurbished in 2002. I believe the neon is still lit at night.

Roy Bennett Furniture has been around since 1914. The neon looks in great shape but I don't know if this sign is lit at night.

The Illinois Soldiers & Sailors Home was established in 1886. The name was changed in 1973 to the Illinois Veterans Home at Quincy. Federal Sign began producing these signs sometime between 1901 and 1915. They continued to produce them ever after neon was developed in the 1920s. These signs were modular with individual letter panels. Different types of border panels were also available. Some other examples of these very old signs can be found in Milford, MI, Soda Springs, ID, New Orleans, LA, and Glasgow, KY.

This Masonic Temple has a remarkably well-maintained sign.

Ford Hopkins Drug Store features an embossed porcelain enamel sign with neon. I don't know if the sign is still lit at night. This drug store still has an operating soda fountain. For more, see this website.

The Bowl-Mor Lanes sign appear to be from the 1950s or 1960s.

This Elks Lodge sign appears to be from the 1940s or 1950s.

The Shawnee Chief Motel opened in 1958. This sign appears to be from then.

I don't know when the Blackhawk Village Inn & Lodge was built or if this sign is lit at night.

This Elks Lodge sign may be unique or is at least very rare. I have seen many similar Elks signs but not another like this. B.P.O.E. stands for Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. For some other examples, see these in Arcadia, CA, Daytona Beach, FL, Ironton, OH, Hood River, OR, Galveston, TX, and Fond du Lac, WI.

People's Drive-in Cleaners was established in 1929. Their sign is very similar to the one at Pierce Cleaners in Columbus, OH.

Siegle-Hunt Lumber features a wood, log-shaped sign.

Butterfield Jewelers was established in 1936. In 1954, the company moved to this former bank building. The sign is probably from then.

This Independent Order of Odd Fellows sign is probably from the 1930s or 1940s. The lodge was built in 1848.

The Horseshoe Lounge & Restaurant sign appears to be from the 1950s.

The Ashmann's Pharmacy sign is probably from the 1960s. For more, see this website.

The Woody's Steak House sign apparently revolved at one time. It was not spinning when I was there in 2009. The neon seems to still work.

The Monte's Riverside Inn sign appears to be from the 1950s.

This West Side Clothing Store sign features a Red Goose Shoes logo. There are still a handful of Red Goose signs out there but most of them feature neon. Some examples: Fort Worth, TX, Las Vegas, NV, Goldsboro, NC, and Leesburg, VA.

The Col. Wes Chapman Auctioneer Service business is long gone but the sign remains.

Rudy's Liquor Store opened in 1948 and this sign is probably from that time. The neon and bulbs are lit at night.

The glass globes on this Masonic Temple sign are in great shape.

The Sparkle Cleaners sign appears to have been recently adapted. The "Sparkle" lettering on the middle portion, as well as the starbursts, appear to be modern. The sign's neon is now protected behind clear plastic panels.

Moews Seed Company was established in 1927. The company started using this name in the 1950s. The sign is probably from then. It is located at the company's headquarters.

Capponi's Italian Foods opened in 1934. This sign is probably from the 1950s. For more, see this website.

Mona's Italian Foods opened in 1933. This sign is probably from the 1950s. The chef's spoon is sequentially animated. Mona's and Capponi's are just down the street from each other. Once competitors, both restaurants have been owned by the Bernardi family since 1965. During the week, the restaurants are opened on alternate nights. They are both open on weekends.
