The Five Star Motel looks like it's been here since the 1950s.

The Lincoln Motel featured a bust of Abraham Lincoln on one side of this sign (the other was missing). This photo was from 2006. By 2011, the sign was gone.

The Choice Motel also goes by the name of the "Cardinal Inn". It has been here since at least the 1950s.

The Kriege Hardware store opened in this building around 1948. This sign is probably from then. The store closed in 2011. In 2012, the sign was adapted by the new tenant, Dewey's Pizza. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Neal Motel is closed. This sign had been cut from its poles and was standing in front of the office when this photo was taken in 2010.

This Prairie Farms Dairy sign hangs on the company's processing plant. The signs is lit at night.

The Cafe Mobilgas features these two signs. The Pegasus, aka the Flying Horse, was the symbol of Mobilgas. By 2006, the gas pumps were removed and the restaurant looked like it had been closed for quite awhile. For more, see this website.

The Tropics Restaurant opened in 1950 and was a landmark on Route 66. It closed around 2005 and the building remains vacant as of 2009. The name originated from the owner's military service in Hawaii.

This Pittsburgh Paints sign hangs above Kraus Home Furnishings. These embossed plastic signs were mass-produced and there are still a number of them around the country.

The Liquor Barrel sign is either modern or an old one that has been completely refurbished. It spins on its pole.

The Dellert's Paint Company's neon sign features a man painting in two part animation. Dellert's was established in 1943. For more, see this website.

Autocraft Body Shop features a Bear Alignment sign. Bear Alignment was a nationwide chain founded in the 1920s. These signs were used at shops that used Bear tools. For more, see this page.

The Spillway Lanes closed in 2007 and the sign has been deteriorating since then. The first photo is from 2005, the second photo from 2009. This bowling alley and sign were built in 1960 for the Town and Country Lanes. In 1985, the Spillway took over the space. For more, see these websites: this website.

The giant King Pin Lanes sign has been repainted and the neon has been removed. For more, see this website.

Ace Sign Co.

The Ace Sign Co. has a mini sign museum inside its shop. This company was established in 1940. Ace restored the Southtown Theatre marquee in 2007.
