The McCauley Furniture sign is probably from the 1940s or 1950s.
This B.P.O.E. sign advertises for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. D&M Auto Body sign is probably an old sign with new neon added to reflect the current business name. |

This old Pizza Hut sign has escaped replacement by corporate headquarters. There is another sign like this in Fernandina Beach, FL that has been updated with a newer logo. There is an even older Pizza Hut neon sign in San Antonio, TX.
Kinser Lanes features a neon bowling pin sign and bas relief pins on its building. The Welcome to Our City rooftop bulb sign is located on the main square in town. It was originally erected in 1912. In 1936, the sign was removed due to deterioration. In 2003, it was recreated with what could be saved and reinstalled. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. |

The Plaza Bowling Lanes sign was being reworked when I was there in 2009. Previously, it looked like this.
The neon on the Tasty Treat "Eat-it-All" cone seems to be in good shape. This plastic Launderama sign may have been mass-produced but I have never seen another one like it. K's Hamburger Shop opened in 1935. This sign is lit at night. For more, see this website. The Tonquas Redman Club sign is just a few feet away from K's Hamburger Shop. This sign is also lit at night. For more, see this website. |

The Stardust Motel sign appears to be from the 1950s. I don't know if the neon still works.
The Eikenberry's sign was painted blue until 2009. Eikenberry's was part of the IGA Foodliners grocery store chain. This neon Super Baker sign is on the side of the Eikenberry's store. This mascot must have been used for advertising by the IGA chain. Both signs are lit at night. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. This plastic Super Baker sign is installed on the side of the Belle Center IGA Market. I have not seen any other neon or plastic Super Baker signs. Please let me know if you find any others. |

The Conkle's Florist & Greenhouse sign looks like it was recently refurbished or is a replacement of the original.
Peck's Jewelers opened in 1952 and closed in 2009. I don't know what will happen with this sign. For more, see this website. |

Bun's Restaurant has been here since 1864. The restaurant was destroyed by fire in 2002. It was rebuilt and reopened in 2004. This vintage sign is suspended from an arch over the street. The neon arrow points in the direction of the restaurant. The sign is still lit at night. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.
The Ralph Martin Shoe Repair sign was installed in 1963. It is still lit at night. |

| At one time, there were more than 10,000 Mail Pouch barn signs in the Midwest but less than half remain today. The ads were painted in exchange for cash, magazine subscriptions, chewing tobacco or for painting the entire barn. The Mail Pouch Tobacco Company (now Bloch Brothers) was based in West Virginia. The signs were painted from the 1920s until the 1990s. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. For more barn-painted signs, see this page, about Rock City advertising. |
