| If signs are your thing, the American Sign Museum will blow your mind. Every conceivable type of sign is here: early bulb signs, embossed signs, intricate gold leaf signs, gorgeous neon signs, and even a gas-lit sign. There are display windows (storefronts) that contain typical signs of various eras, sign-maker toolkits, and a backroom with works-in-progress. This collection was put together by Tod Swormstedt, now the founder and owner of the museum. The museum officially opened in 2005 but it is still open only by appointment. Go out of your way because it WILL be worth it to take that personal tour with Tod who is very generous with his time and information. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. |
