The Birmingham Drug Co. is still in business.
Butler's Pharmacy has been around since 1919. The store features a navy blue Rexall sign. I believe these signs are older than the more common orange and blue neon signs like the one at the Stantonsburg Drug Co. If these blue oval signs are not older, they are at least rarer. The Stantonsburg Drug Co. was established in 1912. They moved here in 1967 and must have brought this neon sign with them. The plastic sign looks like it might date from 1967. Parson's Drugs was established in 1875. The store features both porcelain enamel and backlit plastic signs. |

This Rexall Drug features the trademark blue and orange storefront as well as a nice free-standing sign and Coppertone clock. The store is right on the beach and sells the full gamut of souvenirs, clothing, etc. (as well as a generous amount of sunblock). The signage indicates that this was originally the Donovan & Fallon Drug Store which opened here in 1927. Somewhere along the line, it became part of the Rexall chain and changed the look of its storefront considerably. There was a fire in 2007 but it doesn't sound like it will affect the status of the store. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
McCann's Pharmacy opened here in 1946. This sign is lit at night. For more, see this website. |

The Sullivan's Rexall sign appears to consist of applied decals over vitrolite. The glass is Rexall orange so I assume the business has been here for a long time. The decals were probably applied much later.
Beaver's Pharmacy was established in 1936. It was known as Barker's Pharmacy before that. |

The Miller Drug Store sign is double-sided and must have projected from the building originally.
Green's Pharmacy has been here since 1872. These plastic signs are probably from the 1950s. For more, see their website. Grey's Drugs now houses the Hooker Soda Fountain & Grill. |

Cornwell Drug apparently adapted this sign rather than replacing it.
Yankton Rexall was established in 1923 and is still in operation. There is another sign behind the store which I missed shooting. For more, see this website. |

The Stewart Drug Company has another nice Rexall sign. Brown Drugs is gone but this sign remains above the Hair Gallery. Tindalls Drugs is gone but this sign remains. This style sign didn't have neon but was lit fluorescent tubes from the sides. |

The Prescription Pharmacy is still open.
The Kraege Drug Store was established in 1919. In 1928, the store moved across the street temporarily while this new building was constructed on the site of the original. I believe the Wilson United Drugs was established in the 1940s. These signs appear to be from the 1960s. The store's older, classic navy and orange sign is now located at the back of the building. For more, see this website. The ABC Pharmacy is closed now but this sign was still there in 2011. |

The Mueller-Potter Drug Co. was established in 1918. The store is gone but this sign remains. I don't know when or why the Potter name was painted over.
Mayer Rexall Drugs is long gone but this sign remains. I have never seen a Rexall scaffold sign like this before. I have not seen a Rexall clock sign before like this one at Micklesen Drug. I assume it's from the 1960s or 1970s. |
