The Towne Theatre opened in 1926 and was remodeled after WWII. The theare was renovated around 1990. The theatre is now known as the Phoenix Adlabs Indian Movie Center which features Indian films. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
The Studio Theatre opened in 1950. Around 1999, the theatre was converted into a nightclub called Dance Plex. The space has been other nightclubs since then including Glo and, as of 2008, Wet. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. The Mexico Theatre opened in 1949 as the Mayfair Theatre. The name was changed to the Esquire Theatre in 1962. Around 1980, the name changed again to the Mexico Theatre which featured Spanish language films. The Mexico has been closed since the mid-1990s after a failed attempt as an Asian film theatre. There was talk in 2006 of converting the space into retail use but, as of 2008, the building is still vacant. For more, see this website. |

| The Century 21 Theatre opened in 1964 as a Cinerama theatre. Other domed theatres were added nearby over the years: the Century 22 in 1966, the Century 23 in 1967, the Century 24 in 1968, and the Century 25 in 1969. All of these theatres have flat screens now.
