Pines Theatre
Lufkin, TX
The Pines Theatre was built in 1925. It later housed a church. In 2007, the City bought the building and is restoring it. When these photos were taken in 2011, the exterior and marquee had been refurbished and the interior was being actively worked on. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Palace Theatre
Georgetown, TX
The Texas Theatre opened in 1929. The façade was updated in 1940. The marquee was destroyed by a storm in 2006 and rebuilt. The theatre is closed and raising funds for restoration. For more, see this website.

The Palace Theatre opened in 1926. The exterior was remodeled in 1936. The theatre closed in 1989 but was saved and renovated in the 1990s. It now features mainly live performances. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Crighton Theatre opened in 1935 and closed in the mid-1960s. It was restored and reopened in 1979 as a performing arts venue. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Ritz Theatre opened in 1929 and closed in 1964. In the 1970s, there were short-lived uses as an adult theatre and as a music venue. Since the 1980s, the theatre was used as a bar and rock club. The Paramount Theatre is right next door to the State Theatre. It was designed by John Eberson and built in 1915 as the Majestic Theatre. The theatre was renamed the Paramount in 1930. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Cactus Theatre opened in 1938 and closed in 1958. It reopened in 1995 as a performing arts venue. The theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For more, see this website.

The Mulkey Theatre opened in 1946. It replaced a theatre of the same name that was destroyed by fire on the site. The Mulkey closed in 1986. The City purchased the building in 2008 and restoration work has begun. For more, see 1 and 2.

25th Street Theatre
Waco, TX
The Rialto Theatre was built in 1937. It has been closed for many years. The interior has been gutted. The owner has been trying to sell the marquee since 2009. This photo is from 2011. For more, see this website.

Waco Hippodrome Theatre

The Waco Hippodrome Theatre was built in 1913. A fire in 1928 destroyed much of the front of the building. The facade was rebuilt in the Spanish Colonial Revival style at that time and the theatre reopened in 1929 as the Waco Theatre. It closed in the late 1970s.
