| The Keith-Albee Theatre was designed by Thomas Lamb and opened in 1928. It closed in 2006 for renovation and conversion into a live performance venue. The theatre is now known as the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center. In 2011, the 40 foot tall blade sign was damaged in a storm and removed. The first photo above is from 2007 and shows the sign; the other photos from 2012 show it still missing. It was restored and reinstalled later that year. The neon was replaced with LED bulbs. The Fairmont Theatre opened in 1946. It had been vacant since at least 2007. In 2012, it was announced that the building would be demolished soon. For more, see this website.
The Cinema Theatre was built around 1915 as a vaudeville house. It was originally known as the Orpheum Theatre. The theatre closed in 2011. When these photos were taken in 2012, the building was occupied by the Crew Church. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. |
